One man is dead and another is hospitalized after gunshots followed an argument between two electrical workers this morning, police said.
Michael Falgout of Bourg, who police say is in his 30s, shot a coworker on the 500-block of Engeron Street shortly before 9 a.m. Falgout later killed himself in the Bourg area, said Sgt. Dana Coleman, a spokesman for the Houma Police.
The wounded coworker, whose name was not immediately available, was shot in the lower abdomen and taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center, Coleman said. He was in stable condition.
The cause of the argument remains under investigation, Coleman said.
Both men worked for an electrical contracting business that owned the house on Engeron Street where the shooting took place, Coleman said, though he could not immediately provide the name of the business.
A neighbor, Merrill Scott, 56, said she heard two "pops" she assumed were fireworks, until police and paramedics arrived.
She said the workers met at the house every day before heading out on the job.
"I talked to those guys and I never would have thought one would have shot the other," Scott said. "They're good guys."
