LAFOURCHE, La. -- Three teenagers have been arrested for a string of burglaries in central Lafourche Parish. Authorities believe the teens may be responsible for more than 30 burglaries in Lafourche Parish, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office.
Pagan Stokes, 17, Kenneth Cunningham, 19 and Todd Lucas Jr., 18, are facing burglary charges, according to the sheriff's office, after the teens confessed to participating in the crimes.
On Oct. 24, deputies were called to a convenience store burglary in Raceland. Detectives identified Stokes as a suspect in the burglary. Under questioning Stokes confessed to the burglary, according to the sheriff's office.
“Through further investigation, it was learned Stokes was also involved in a residential burglary on St. Ann Street in Raceland. Through a second interview, Stokes confessed to that residential burglary as well as three vehicle burglaries and five other instances of theft,” said a statement from the sheriff’s office. Detectives also recovered property stolen from the convenience store and the vehicle burglaries from the teen’s home, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives also identified Lucas and Cunningham as possible suspects.
Lucas and Cunningham were found in Franklinton, according to the sheriff’s office. “Through the help of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, the two men were arrested and transported back to Lafourche Parish. During interviews with detectives, both men confessed to being willing participants in the convenience store burglary, the residential burglary on St. Ann Street, and 34 vehicle burglaries in the Central Lafourche area,” said the sheriff’s office.
All three teens were charged with two counts of simple burglary for the convenience store incident, with an additional count of simple burglary for a residential burglary, and Cunningham and Lucas were also charged with an additional 34 counts of simple burglary for the vehicle burglaries, according to sheriff’s office.
They are being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of their respective bond amounts, according to the sheriff’s office.
