Earlier this month, an Eyewitness News 4 Investigates report revealed that some developers in St. Tammany Parish are getting a drastically discounted property tax rate which the law says some don't deserve.
One of those properties, Ashland Oaks Business Park, which is owned in part by state Sen. Jack Donahue, had its taxes slashed from more than $25,000 a year to as little as $60 a year.
St. Tammany Parish assessor Patricia Core says Ashland Oaks deserved the special tax break when the owners first applied for it. But when they began developing, they should have started paying fair market value.
Tonight at 10pm in a Four Follow-Up, Sen. Donahue says he wasn't even aware his property was getting a special tax break until Channel 4’s original report aired. Hear why Donahue says the assessor is to blame.
