Valentines Dinner for Two

Lots of flowers and lots of red.

Have a romantic dinner for two at home near a roaring fire. Use your wedding china, crystal and silver or the best you have.  Make heart shaped galax filed chargers. Decorate the two chairs with dupioni silk sashes and add faux flower garland. Decorate the mantle with a lit ribbon garlands and dramatic candelabra. 

Party size: Two.

Invitation: handwritten note to your significant other for a romantic dinner.

Menu: Oyster soup and oysters on the half shell to start. Heart shaped filets with heart shaped pasta with pesto. Garden salad with hearts of palm and cut out red pepper hearts. Decadent heart shaped chocolate cake for dessert.

Drinks: Champagne and fine wine.

Things to do: Turn on romantic music and dance. Set up your laptop with a slide show of fun pictures. Talk.

How to: Galax charger- buy a oasis filled tray from the florist.  They come in many shapes- buy the heart shape. Soak in water for an hour.  Purchase galax leaves (6 bunches for both chargers) from the florist and cut the stems down to ½” long and insert them overlapping into the oasis. 

Recipes: Chilled Oyster Shooter for two: Buy a pint of cleaned shucked oysters. Drain them and put into a large ziplock bag.  Add Tabasco and cocktail sauce to taste. Marinate in the fridge for an hour. Serve on an oyster plate or in a small shot glass.

Extra Tips: Add lots of votives to the table and mantle. Pick out your favorite romantic music. Use the time to decide what future trips you will take together.
