WWL-TV Engineer / Photographer Bob Reigert was part of the crew that chronicled the events unfolding at the unofficial 'waiting spot' at Causeway and I-10 where people trudged from their flooded and damaged homes.
The worst of them were taken out by helicopter, the rest waited days in searing heat for school buses. The area began to gather trash like Canal Street or St. Charles on Mardi Gras Day, but these were not happy and care free times.
Water was like gold and the elderly and babies were the most in need.
