NEW ORLEANS - Bread Pudding Base to celebrate National Chocolate Day on Nov. 29th

1 loaf French bread (dry)

4 eggs

1 cup white sugar

3-4 cups milk

1 Tbsp. vanilla

8 Tbsp. butter, melted

 

Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, break up bread. Add eggs, sugar and 2 cups of milk. Mix well. Look for a texture of oatmeal. Add milk as you need it to achieve this texture. Add vanilla, butter and stir well. Bake in buttered 9"x13" pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until firm. Bake in muffin pans for 45 minutes.

The above is for a plain bread pudding but if you choose to make a version listed below, add in with vanilla and butter and stir to incorporate. Bake as directed.

 

Chocolate Chip Almond

 

1/2 cup Amaretto

1 cup toasted sliced almonds

1 cup chocolate chips

 

Chocolate Peppermint

 

1/2 cup peppermint sticks, crushed

1 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup chocolate syrup

 

Chocolate Caramel

 

1/2 chocolate syrup

1 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup caramel squares, chopped
