Easy Halloween treats even the kids can make

Halloween is coming up on Monday, and there will definitely be plenty of parties this weekend. Chef Kevin Belton shares some easy recipes your kids can help you make.

Hot Dog Spiders

Ingredients

1 package hot dogs 1 package of Crescent Roll dough Yellow mustard Ketchup

Directions

Make three one-inch cuts from the end of the hotdog toward the center and leaving the center intact. This will create the spider legs. Unroll the Crescent Roll dough and cut into 1 inch strips that at 3 inches long. Wrap one piece of pre-cut dough around the center of the hot dog. Place on parchment paper on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 9-12 minutes depending on desired doneness. Use two dots of mustard for spider eyes.

Tip: You can use mustard, ketchup, black sesame seeds or poppy seeds as eyes.

Halloween Popcorn Balls

Ingredients

1 stick of butter

15-ounces of mini marshmallows

8 cups of popped popcorn

1 cup of crushed pretzel sticks

1 cup breakfast cereal

1/4 teaspoon salt

½ cup of desired candy

Cooking spray

Directions

Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat; stir in marshmallows. Reduce heat to low; cook for 7-10 minutes or until the marshmallows melt and the mixture is smooth, stir frequently.

Combine popcorn, cereal, pretzels and candy in a large bowl.

Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn mixture, stirring to coat well. Lightly coat hands with cooking spray. Shape popcorn mixture into balls of desired size. While balls harden, you may have to form balls continually.
