Woman’s body found under Dularge Overpass
02:54 PM CDT on Wednesday, March 21, 2007
HOUMA -- A woman’s body was found under the Dularge Overpass this morning, and police are investigating whether foul play is involved.
The woman, who was identified as 45-year-old Lori Ann Ezell, was dressed in a multi-colored scrub shirt with a flower pattern and light blue scrub pants, police said. She was last seen walking on the South Van Avenue bridge over the Houma Navigation Canal shortly after 6 a.m., police said.
Her body showed no obvious signs of trauma, said Maj. Euia Usie of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Ezell's body was reported to the Sheriff’s Office around 7:30 a.m., and detectives were still searching along the bank of the Intracoastal Waterway underneath the bridge around 9 a.m. Although foul play has not been established, Usie said investigators will start by assuming the worst until another explanation is found.
Anyone driving near the Dularge overpass between 6 and 7:30 a.m. today who may have information about Ezell's death is asked to call the Sheriff's Office, 876-2500.
