Woman killed in car accident by Lafourche Crossing

A woman was killed in a car accident near the Lafourche Crossing on LA 308.
Keia Sumler, 18, Gretna, was driving a Honda Accord at a high speed when she passed several vehicles in a no passing zone just north of the Lafourche Crossing. Sumler finished passing the cars when she overcorrected, according to state police.
She then crossed the centerline and hit a car in the oncoming lane.
Sumler was not wearing seatbelt and died at the scene.
The man driving the car Sumler struck, David Tate, 52, Thibodaux, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Thibodaux Regional Hospital.
