According to Blair Foster, a sheriff’s office spokesperson, the incident occurred May 15 at Smith’s Nursery on Highway 22.

Foster said the nursery owners caught Thomas H. Williams in the act of stealing specialized plants from them. The plants are worth nearly $1,000.

Williams lead the owners on a high speed chase through East Ponchatoula, Foster said, before driving into a dense wooded area and managed to escape the owners on foot.

Foster said Williams is also wanted for numerous other thefts in the area.

Anyone with information on Williams’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-345-6150.
