Today's Fourth of July events

- Go 4th on the River - The 18th annual event will kickoff a dueling barge show at 9 p.m., features live music on four riverfront stages and, of course, lots of food.
Cost: Free.
Location: New Orleans riverfront.
Time: Noon until 9 p.m.
- Feed the Multitudes - The 19th annual event is for the poor and homeless, where they can get hot dogs, jambalaya, barbecued chicken and more. There are also free games for children, including face painting and a waterslide.
Cost: Free.
Location: Marconi Meadows in City Park.
Time: Noon to 5 p.m.
- Slidell Heritage Festival - One of Slidell's biggest events of the year, the Slidell Heritage Festival features food, games and entertainment.
Cost: $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
Location: Heritage Park, 415 Williams Blvd., Kenner
Time: 3 to 11 p.m.
- Fireworks over Lake Pontchartrain - Catch some fireworks at the Treasure Chest Casino
Cost: Free.
Location: Treasure Chest Casino, 5050 Williams Blvd., Kenner
Time: 9 p.m.
- Mandeville Seafood Festival - The place to be on the northshore for seafood also has music and entertainment. If you miss out today, it'll be open Saturday and Sunday as well.
Cost: $10 for adults. Free for children 10 and under, seniors 65 and over and the military.
Location: 540 Jackson St., Mandeville
Time: 8:45, though festivities gates open at 11 p.m.
- St. Bernard Salutes America - The Bucktown All-Stars salute America in St. Bernard. There will be children's activities like pony rides and face-painting. Fireworks are set for 9 p.m.
Cost: Free.
Location: St. Bernard Parish Government Complex, 8201 West Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette.
Time: 5:30 p.m.
- Community Fourth of July Celebration - There will be a fireworks display, food, games and crafts, along with a patriotic presentation.
Cost: Free.
Location: Belle Chasse United Methodist Church, 8375 Louisiana 23.
Time: 5 to 9 p.m.
