LIVINGSTON, La. -- A Walker man has been found guilty of second degree murder in connection with an August, 2007, case where he allegedly shot the victim some seven times, according to 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perilloux.

District Attorney Perilloux reports that 19-year-old Lezric Morris of Walker was found guilty by a Livingston Parish jury on Wednesday, July 23.

Perilloux says that a couple of days before the August 29, 2007, shooting, an apparent verbal disagreement between Morris and another man turned into a physical confrontation when the victim, Corey Turner of Walker, struck Morris.

Perilloux says that Morris sent word to Turner that he wanted to meet and fight, although Turner left and went to Baton Rouge. According to Perilloux, Turner returned to Walker a day later and when Morris saw him, Morris shot Turner once in the leg and then fired six more rounds into the victim.

Perilloux says that the sentencing date has been set for Thursday, August 7.
