Slidell company recalls fresh stuffed artichokes

SLIDELL, La. -- A small Slidell company is recalling fresh stuffed artichokes because the label doesn't say the bread crumbs contain milk, soy and wheat -- foods some people are allergic to.
Ruby Lovecchio, owner of Nonna's Real Italiana Cuccine, said she hadn't noticed a label change on the breadcrumbs she uses. She is getting new labels and may have them by Thursday.
Lovecchio said the artichokes are her biggest product. She sells them to 14 or 15 retailers in the New Orleans area, including some on the northshore of Lake Pontchartrain.
She says there were few to recall. She had told customers there wouldn't be a delivery this week because her husband is out of town and her delivery man is on vacation.
Lovecchio, who lives in Dallas and Metairie, had more customers before Hurricane Katrina destroyed Lovecchio's Artichoke Factory and Restaurant in Pearlington, Mississippi.
