State Police are investigating a one-vehicle crash in St. Tammany Parish that resulted in the death of the passenger and sent the driver, who will be charged with driving while intoxicated when released, to the hospital, said State Police spokesman Trooper Louis Calato.

Around 5 a.m., the crash occurred when Angela Sour, 21, Folsom, for reasons unknown traveled off the LA 1085, driving into a ditch and slamming into a culvert, police said.

Though both people in the car were wearing seatbelts, the passenger, Anne McPherson, 28, Mandeville, was pronounced dead on the scene by Nick Culotta from the St. Tammany Corner’s Office, police said.

Sour was taken to St. Tammany Hospital.  According to police, during the investigation a small amount of marijuana was found in her possession and drug usage is suspected in the crash. Blood and urine were drawn for analysis by authorities. Once Sour is released from the hospital, she will be charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and vehicular homicide.
