Early voting begins today

Early voting begins Tuesday for a few key races around the state, including the hotly contest 2nd Congressional District seat and the race to fill former State Representative Derrick Shepherd's seat.

Incumbent Democrat William Jefferson, who has served nine terms in Congress, will take on a number of opponents including Republican candidate Joseph Cao.
State Rep. J.P. Morrell and financial consultant Shawn Barney are the two Democrats vying for the state senate seat vacated by Derrick Shepherd.
Early voting also begins for a municipal race in Terrebonne Parish Tuesday.
Early voting continues through Tuesday, Nov. 25 at your parish registrar of voters office from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. There will be no voting on Sunday.
The regular election will be held Saturday, Dec. 6.
