October 7, 2005: Updated Number of Deceased Victims Recovered Following Hurricane Katrina
At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1003 bodies.
This is an increase from 988 recovered bodies on Oct. 5, 2005.
These numbers have been reported to state officials by local coroners.
A breakdown is as follows: 810 are at the morgue in St. Gabriel Parish Coroners:Ascension * 9Assumption * 3East Baton Rouge * 72Iberia * 6Jefferson * 30Lafourche * 2Livingston * 5Plaquemines * 3St. Charles * 8St. Tammany * 7Tangipahoa * 26Terrebonne * 19West Baton Rouge * 3
