Bogalusa P.D. Lakeisha Adams
According to Bogalusa Police Sergeant Daryl Darben, Lakeisha Adams called police Monday night around 7 p.m. to report that someone had killed her child. When officers arrived, they said they found Jailand Adams on the sofa at his mother’s home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Darben said Adams admitted during questioning that she had put her infant son in the clothes dryer and then turned it on.
Coroner Peter Galvan said the baby had third-degree burns over 50 percent of his body and had suffered blunt force trauma to the head from tumbling in the dryer.
Adams also had a one-year-old child that is now in state protective custody.
Police said Adams did not give an explanation as to why she put her son in the dryer.
