A Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection to the shooting death of a cab driver last week, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday night.

A photograph shows Monier Gindy holding his new grandchild.

According to police, 18-year-old David Page was arrested in Marrero just hours after a tip was called in to Crimestoppers.

A 16-year-old was also arrested over the weekend and charged with second-degree murder in the death of the cab driver, Monier Gindy.

An arrest warrant was issued for Page, who Sheriff Lee said would also be charged with second-degree murder.

Gindy’s killing occurred late last Thursday night in the 6300 block of Fourth Street in Marrero. It was the first murder in Jefferson Parish this year.
