WWL, Cox make progress; Super Bowl to be available on HD
02:57 PM CST on Friday, February 2, 2007
NEW ORLEANS– Cox Communications and WWL-TV’s parent company, Belo Corp., announced today significant progress in negotiations for carriage of WWL’s analog and high-definition signals and NewsWatch 15. As a result, the companies have agreed to a 30-day extension for the carriage of WWL‘s Channel 4 and NewsWatch 15 on Cox Cable while long-term carriage negotiations continue. As a good faith gesture, and for the benefit of the Cox customers in New Orleans, WWL and Cox will provide Sunday's Super Bowl, including pre-and post-game coverage, in high definition on Cox cable channel 704.
For Sunday’s Super Bowl, Cox customers must have an HDTV to access high definition programming on Cox’s lineup. Customers must also have either an HD receiver, available from Cox, or an HD antenna to access local broadcast stations in HD. A receiver is required for high definition programming on cable channels. For more information, or to obtain an HD enabled receiver, contact Cox at 504-304-8444.
