One month later, no one has claimed $97 million Powerball

It’s been more than a month since someone purchased a Powerball ticket worth $97 million at a Metairie gas station and people are still wondering who the lucky winner is.

Whoever has the lucky ticket has another five months to come forward and Lottery officials say that it isn’t unusual for someone to take this long.

In fact, they say that since Louisiana joined the Powerball lottery a decade ago, they’ve had 11 winners and all have come forward. They expect that the 12th will come forward soon.

'It's not unusual for a person not to come forward right away because normally they're seeking financial advice from an advisor,” said Victory Gray, the regional manager of the Louisiana Lottery.

While some have speculated that the ticket might be lost, lottery officials say that they’ve recently been fielding some questions from an attorney about the method for collecting the money.
