Authorities in Lafourche Parish say they arrested a Cut Off teenager Monday night for drag racing.

According to police, 19-year-old Ryan Collins was charged with drag racing after deputies patrolling the intersection of Highway 3235 and 3162 saw him accelerate his vehicle to an extremely high rate of speed.

Police said the vehicle accelerated so quickly the tires squealed for a prolonged period before the vehicle took off.

Deputies stopped the vehicle about two miles down the road.

Police said Collins also had an outstanding warrant for contempt of court. He was taken to the South Lafourche Sub-station where a judge set his bond at $5,150.
