Eddie Robinson funeral plans announced

Funeral arrangements were announced for former Grambling State head football coach Eddie Robinson on Wednesday.

Robinson will lie in state for public viewing Monday, April 9, in the capitol rotunda in Baton Rouge. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a memorial service scheduled at 5 p.m. in the rotunda.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. in the assembly center on the Grambling State University campus. Robinson will be buried at the Memorial Cemetary on the campus.
Robinson coached at Grambling for 57 years, winning a then-record 408 games, before retiring in 1997. He sent more than 200 players to the NFL, including Doug Williams, former Grambling quarterback and Super Bowl MVP.
Other career highlights include 11 Southwestern Athletic Conference titles, nine national black college championships, only eight losing seasons, and induction into every hall of fame for which he was eligible.
Robinson died late Tuesday night after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was 88-years-old.
