Kenner offers assistance to those who can't pay their rent

Kenner residents who are struggling to pay their rent and utility bills may be able find some help.
Those in need of housing and utility assistance can fill out an application to apply for help. To be eligible for assistance, individuals must be a resident of Kenner and be able to prove that they are in need of financial assistance.
Applicants are asked to bring two proofs of residency. For those with utility bill issues, individuals are asked to have a utility bill more than two month past due and a disconnect notice. Those having rent problems are asked to bring a court-ordered eviction notice signed by a judge.
The program will run on Monday and Wednesday only until the funds are exhausted. The location is at Martin Luther King Community Resource Center at 1042 31st Street. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. only.
