Kenner Police arrested Brett Lochmann after raiding the Greater New Orleans Teen Challenge where they say Lochmann lived and worked as a Pentecostal youth minister.
The arrest is the 44th for the Kenner cybercrimes unit, which started two years ago with the idea of catching Internet predators.
Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway said Lochmann used a computer in his room and office to try to solicit sex from young girls.
“(He was) chatting on the Internet, soliciting sex from this person he believed to be a young girl, sending lewd pictures of himself, a nude photo of himself.”
Caraway said Lochmann admitted to being addicted to sex on the Internet. He said that Lochmann’s position that put him in direct contact with troubled youth should send a warning sign to parents.
Police seized two computers used by Lochmann. Caraway says at this point investigators aren't sure if he also solicited sex from the troubled young people he counseled.
“Anytime you arrest somebody that does this type of work and has this type of contact with possibly kids, it certainly is something that's alarming,” said Caraway.
Lochman is charged with one count each of computer aided solicitation for sexual purposes - and indecent behavior with a juvenile. He faces similar charges based on a state attorney general investigation in East Baton Rouge Parish.
