Coast Guard rescues two from fishing boat in Gulf

Two men – 48- and 46-years-old -- reportedly suffering from allergic reactions to food were rescued by the Coast Guard 30 miles south of Vermillion Bay.
Around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, the Eighth Coast Guard District Command Center began receiving an emergency position beacon signaling distress aboard the fishing vessel St. Michael, according to the Coast Guard.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans’ Watchstanders received radio relay calls from vessels in the water with information about the two men, according to the Coast Guard.
Around 9:30 p.m., the Coast Guard reported that a rescue helicopter was launched.
The two men were removed from the vessel and transported to Lafayette General Hospital, according to the Coast Guard.
There was no report on their condition.
