In St. Charles Parish Tuesday, a New Sarpy woman accused of burying her newborn baby in her parent’s backyard is facing a sanity hearing in court.

A judge will hold a sanity hearing for Belinda Wells.

Wells plead not guilty by reason of insanity for the death of her newborn baby.

Wells told St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies that she gave birth to the baby, and when the baby stopped crying, she believed that newborn had died, so she buried the baby in the backyard.
