A trailer sits next to a Hurricane Katrina damaged home in New Orleans Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005.
The city is expected to begin issuing citations for some residents who have a trailer on their property.
But the deadline does not apply to all residents – people who live in Districts D and E, which includes the Lower 9th Ward, Gentilly, New Orleans East until September 30 to remove their trailers.
Anyone living outside of those areas must be out of their trailers by Tuesday, and anyone found in violation of the ordinance will subject to a daily fine.
If you still live in a FEMA trailer and have any questions or if you are hoping to get an extension, call 311. To get a trailer removed call FEMA at 1-888-294-2822.
