WWL-TV to remember Katrina with bell ringing ceremony

For this second anniversary of America’s worst disaster, people across southeast Louisiana will gather to honor victims of Hurricane Katrina and the heroes who tried to save them and who have worked to help with the recovery.
Special commemorative Memory Bells are available for a $3 donation from the following locations:
- All New Orleans fire stations
- Jefferson Parish fire stations
- St. Bernard Parish fire stations
- St. Tammany Parish fire stations
- Plaquemines Parish public schools
Your three-dollar donation for the bell will benefit local fire department charities and school scholarship funds.
Then please join members of the Eyewitness News team at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29th at one of the following locations for a memorial program and live broadcast:
- St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lakeview (corner of Canal Blvd. & Harrison Ave.)
- The Pavilion in Lafreniere Park in Metairie
- Chalmette High School Gym in St. Bernard Parish
- The Northshore Harbor Center (100 Harbor Center Blvd., Slidell)
- Belle Chasse High School Auditorium, 8346 Highway 23, Belle Chasse
If you don’t have a “Remembering Katrina” bell just bring any bell to the ceremony.
