HOUMA -- A 20-year-old mailman was bitten by another man while delivering mail Wednesday afternoon, police said.

According to Houma Police spokesman Lt. Todd Duplantis, the mailman was walking on the 1300 block of Honduras Street when another man ran up to him from across the street barking like a dog. The mailman suffered a bit on his shoulder, causing minor injury. The other man ran back across the street into a home.

Duplantis said the mailman identified his attacker as 20-year-old Mark D. Plumb, of Butler, Missouri. Police contacted Plumb and placed him under arrest for simple battery.

If convicted, Plumb faces six months in jail and/or a $500 fine.
