South Louisiana parks closing due to weather

In response to the potential for inclement weather in southeast Louisiana, the National Park Service office in New Orleans announced Friday it would close all six sites of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, as well as the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park.

The sites would be closed from 2 p.m. Friday through Saturday, according to a media release through spokesperson Kristy Wallisch.

The release stipulated the following areas would be closed: Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve Headquarters and French Quarter Visitor Center; the Barataria Preserve in Marrero; Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery; the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center in Thibodaux; the Acadian Cultural Center in Lafayette; the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice; and the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, Headquarters and Visitor Center
