An 18-year-old woman was killed and a 19-year-old man injured when several suspects opened fire on their car Sunday night near the intersection of Amelia Street and Dryades.

According to police spokesman Gary Flot, officers who arrived at the scene found the young woman inside the car suffering from several gunshot wounds to the body. The man was on the sidewalk nearby, also with several gunshot wounds. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene while the man was rushed to the hospital and is listed as stable.

Flot said the suspects fled and police are working on clues.
