08:50 AM CDT on Tuesday, October 7, 2008
NEW ORLEANS -- Disaster recovery centers have opened to help victims of hurricanes Ike or Gustav in three Louisiana communities.
The centers in Vacherie, Hackberry and Breaux Bridge opened Monday.
According to the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the centers provide a place where hurricane victims can get information on such things as registration for disaster assistance and help with disaster loan applications.
Additional locations are set to be announced.
Meanwhile, FEMA says its disaster recovery center in New Roads will close Tuesday evening.
