A woman is dead after a single-car accident early Sunday morning.

Deidre Riggs, 36, was driving southbound on LA 57 in Houma before failing to make a turn in a curve in the roadway. Riggs veered off to the right before over correcting, exiting the left side of the roadway, entering a ditch and striking a culvert.

Riggs, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
