Many of you have entered our Extreme Savings Challenge iPad 2 Giveaway by submitting your story of savings and giving back. I wanted to share this one with you today from one of our readers, Adam. This is outside the box, not just groceries but something different and it just goes to show that giving can occur on any level. Here's Adam's Entry:
"This is a Motorola Droid RAZR smartphone. I am a technology/gadget junkie and I love new technology toys. I also attend a new church that was recently planted in Cedartown GA. The church is called Cedar Ridge Church and the pastor is Nate Galloway. you can see more at www.cedarridgechurch.tv. I'm coming at the contest from the angle that I purchased this phone with online promotional deals and also combined them with Verizon deals to get a total of $150 off a $299 phone. 50% off is great for a brand new state of the art smartphone.
Before I make online purchases, I always check for "promo codes" on google. I happened to come across one for a smartphone of choice when i signed a new contract. Boom $50 off. As I was checking out, i spoke with a customer service rep via their chat service and they offered me an additional $100 for switching from an older 3G phone to a newer 4G phone. boom $100 off. after taxes and services fees, I paid, $171.39 for a $299 phone (total would have been around $340).
I donated this phone to my pastor because his phone was more than 4 years old. the screen was not responsive 80% of the time. He had to reboot it 4 times a day and because he is following his heart and God, and just planted a brand new church, he and his family of 4 are just making it by. In a position such as his, he has to have a reliable communication device. "
