Abita's new brew celebrates 300 years of New Orleans

The new brew will hit shelves in Louisiana this week.

Abita Brewing Company launched a new brew Tuesday that celebrates New Orleans Tricentennial.

The company says that “Maison Blanc” pays homage to New Orleans’ French heritage that also includes a taste that “will remind visitors and residents of the city’s light yet festive atmosphere.”

“Maison Blanc has the mild, dry flavor you seek in your favorite house white wine, with the delicious crisp characteristics of Sauvignon blanc grapes,” said Abita Brewmaster Mark Wilson. “Whether you are celebrating New Orleans’ Tricentennial or any other occasion, you will want to raise a glass of Maison Blanc.”

Maison Blanc is brewed with malted barley, wheat and Sauvignon blanc grapes. The company describes it as “the best of both worlds” for wine and beer drinkers.

“When you think of New Orleans, it’s all about the food, culture and lifestyle that makes the city such a unique and special place,” said David Blossman, President of Abita. “The Tricentennial gave us a great opportunity to celebrate all of this, and we hope everyone will join the Abita family in enjoying Maison Blanc, while commemorating the culture and history that has made New Orleans the amazing place it is for the last 300 years.”
