NEW ORLEANS -- Shots were fired in Lakeview Wednesday at the intersection of Walker and General Haig. It happened after a woman confronted two men going through her car and it was all captured on a security camera.
In that security footage taken from a neighbor's house, you can see two men drive by in a stolen Audi Q5 SUV and stop. They get out of their car and begin to go through the woman's white SUV. The woman comes outside, yells at the men and they take off, but not before firing one shot at the woman, hitting her window.
"This could have been a very, very bad situation. They missed her by feet with that bullet," neighbor Gino Ascani said, who's security camera caught the shooting.
It's a quiet neighborhood, but residents say don't be deceived by the perfect yards and the picket fences. They say the intersection of Walker and General Haig attracts crime.
"General Haig is such a hot spot because that's the first street coming from the other side of the canal," Ascani said.
Ascani himself was shot at back in August after confronting a group of kids trying to break into his car near the same intersection. And back in 2016 another woman getting groceries out of her car became the victim of an attempted carjacking, also on General Haig Street.
Ascani says no matter where you live, always keep your guard up.
Police are looking for the stolen Audi used in this shooting. The license plate is ZFS111.
