Two arrested after 19 pounds of marijuana found mailed to home

A search warrant was executed on the home and the package was found with 19-vacuum sealed bags containing 19 pounds of marijuana, according to the sheriff's office.

HAMMOND – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two people after 19 pounds of marijuana were mailed to a home in Hammond.

According to the sheriff’s office, 34-year-old Michael Brett Regan was receiving large quantities of suspected drugs in the mail. DEA Task Force officers monitored packages coming to Regan’s home from different locations on the west coast of the United States.

On April 4, a package addressed to Regan’s home was intercepted by authorities and tested for drugs by K9 officers. The next day, authorities conducted a controlled delivery of the package.

A woman, later identified as 24-year-old Morgan Miguez, got the package from the front door and brought it inside the home. A search warrant was executed on the home and the package was found with 19-vacuum sealed bags containing 19 pounds of marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office says the estimated street value of the marijuana is about $27,000. Agents also found meth, drug paraphernalia and $1,000 in cash inside the home.

The two arrests resulted from a joint investigation between the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, DEA, Hammond Police Department Narcotics Division, the U.S. Postal Service and the State of Louisiana Office of Parole and Probation.
