Despite severe weather causing the complete cancellation of Saturday's events for the first time in its history, the French Quarter Festival logged over half a million guests to the 35th edition of the event, according to festival organizers.
"Our 35th anniversary was one for the books," said Emily Madero, President & CEO of FQFI.
This year's fest dealt with the nuisance of an oil spill that caused the closure of the river on the first two days - requiring west bank attendees to be bused across rather than take the ferry, and it dealt with severe weather that caused a full cancellation Saturday, one of the day's busiest days.
