Police identify suspect in deadly Mardi Gras parade route shooting

21-year-old Eddie Dingle is wanted for second-degree murder after a shooting 2400 block of St. Charles Avenue.

NEW ORLEANS – Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man they say is responsible for a deadly Mardi Gras shooting on St. Charles Avenue.

According to New Orleans Police, 21-year-old Eddie Dingle is wanted for second-degree murder after a shooting 2400 block of St. Charles Avenue.

Officers heard gunshots while working along the parade route and found 29-year-old Maurice Williams shot multiple times. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died.

Investigators say the victim was involved in an argument with another man who allegedly pulled a gun and opened fire. NOPD homicide detectives identified Dingle as the alleged shooter and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
