15-year-old shot to death in St. Charles, father arrested, sheriff’s office says

The father of the teen, a 49-year-old man, has been taken into custody pending further investigation, the sheriff's office says

PARADIS – Deputies in St. Charles Parish have arrested a man for shooting his 15-year-old son to death and shooting and injuring his wife on Sunday afternoon.

The shooting occurred shortly after 6 p.m. in the 100 block of Lynn Drive. When deputies arrived to the scene, a 15-year-old, identified as Seth Veillon, was found dead inside of a mobile home at the location after he was shot multiple times. Seth's mother, 43-year-old Nicole Veillon, was also found lying on the floor suffering from multiple gunshots wounds. She was taken to an area hospital and is currently in critical condition, the sheriff's office says.

Seth's father and Nicole's husband, Ed Veillon, was arrested for one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder following the shooting.

The sheriff's office says, Ed's nine-year-old daughter, fled the scene at the time of the shooting to alert neighbors of the situation, which prompted the call to authorities. She was not harmed in the incident.

Ed Veillon was also taken to an area hospital with an injury that was not life-threatening. He was released and taken into custody by deputies. Bail has been set at $500,000.
