Pelicans game postponed due to leak in roof at Smoothie King Center

NEW ORLEANS - The Pelicans basketball game is postponed due to a leak in the Smoothie King Center roof that caused water to drip on the court.

The Pelicans were set to play the Pacers at 7 p.m.

The team tweeted that they were hoping for a 7:50 p.m. start time. However, after about a 90 minute delay, the team announced that the game was going to be postponed to a later date.

The date of the rescheduled game will be announced at a later date.

The team said tickets for Wednesday's game will be honored when the game is rescheduled later this season. Parking will also be free of charge at the rescheduled game. Fans can call 504-525-4667 for more details.

According to The New Orleans Advocate, a tarp was suspended from the ceiling in order to catch the water.

The team said information on refunds and exchanges will be made available on Thursday.

“The New Orleans Pelicans announced that tonight’s game against the Indiana Pacers has been postponed by the NBA due to a leak in the roof at the Smoothie King Center. SMG officials worked diligently to address the matter, but the NBA determined to postpone the game out of an abundance of caution for players’ safety."
