MORGANTON, N.C.-- Tragedy struck a Morganton family when a 9-year-old boy accidentally hung himself in a tree while playing.

Ayden Crawley spent Saturday afternoon playing in some trees when he got a rope tangled around his neck.

His mother Deni Crawley found her son hanging from the tree at their home.

His father Jerry performed CPR on the boy until EMS crews got to their home.
