VIRGINIA BEACH  -- A Norfolk woman was killed when she was run over by her car.

Police say 54-year-old Faye Hinton rear-ended a vehicle on S. Military Highway at Providence Road Wednesday night.

After exchanging insurance information, Hinton tried to move her 1996 Isuzu Trooper off the road, but it wouldn’t start. As she was looking under the hood, a 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck struck her vehicle. Police say the force of the impact threw Hinton more than 50 feet.

Hinton died in surgery, according to police.

Police say the investigation continues, so no charges have been placed.
