MESA, ARIZONA -- Rescuers were called to an apparent drowning at a golf course early Monday morning.

According Mike Dunn, a spokesman for the Mesa Fire Department, a man on a riding lawn mower went into a lake at the View Point RV Golf Resort near University Drive and Ellsworth Road.

Three golfers nearby tried to help him, but the man slipped back under the water.

While the mower was visible in the water, crews were not immediately able to locate the man. He reportedly was under for about 25 minutes.

A dive team from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office was called out, along with the Technical Rescue Team from the Mesa Fire Department.
