HAMMOND, La. (AP) — The annual Southeastern Louisiana University Guitar Festival will offer an expanded format this season, including a guitar symposium for high school students.

The festival is scheduled from mid-March through early April, said guitar instructor and festival coordinator Patrick Kerber. All events are free and open to the public.

A faculty recital led by Kerber will launch the festival on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Pottle Music Auditorium. Kerber's performance will feature music for the guitar ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary.

The high school symposium — scheduled March 31 — will feature classes and performing opportunities for area students, with an emphasis on music theory.

Information on all events is available by contacting Kerber at 985-549-2886 or pkerber (at)selu.edu.
