NEW ORLEANS - A 16-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty after he allegedly killed a cat by kicking the animal repeatedly, according to LA/SPCA spokesman Katherine LeBlanc.
The arrest by the New Orleans Police Department came after an investigation by the LA/SPCA.
“Witness interviews and a necropsy preformed by the LA/SPCA veterinarian confirmed that the cat died from repeated blunt force trauma,” said LeBlanc in an e-mail. “When the cat’s owner found him, the cat was rushed to a local veterinary clinic where he later died from the injuries.”
The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office will now decide whether to charge the teenager as an adult.
