NEW ORLEANS (AP) — World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma will hold a free master class at Loyola University in New Orleans at the end of the month.
The free event is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall. A ticket is required for entry and can be reserved online at www.montage.loyno.edu or by calling 504-865-2074.
The event is part of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Masterclass Series at Loyola. Others who have participated include trumpeter Christopher Martin, Jay Friedman on trombone, pianist Stephen Hough, clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester and Roberto Diaz on viola.
Ma is acclaimed for his work as a musician and composer. The Grammy Award winner received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
He will perform with the LPO at the Mahalia Jackson Theater on Oct. 26.
