NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office says firefighters quickly extinguished a fire after smoke was spotted coming from a small building adjacent to but separate from the parish jail.
A statement from the sheriff's office Friday says the fire was inside the building that houses laundry equipment. The preliminary cause appears to be electrical.
The sheriff's office says no evacuations were necessary.
No injuries were reported.
