MCKINNEY — Close to 60 dogs from animal shelters near the disaster zone in West, Texas have been relocated to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas facilities in North Texas.

Most are being housed at the agency's shelter in McKinney.

"They must have been terrified, is the only thing I can imagine," said SPCA spokeswoman Maura Davies.

She said staff helped transport 57 dogs from West after the explosion in anticipation of the dogs that would fill up shelters there.
