NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Entergy has restored the power to customers in the Carrollton neighborhood in New Orleans Friday, and some additional customers in Jefferson Parish.
At the height of the outage, about 5,000 customers were without power.
Entergy officials say a possum or some other small animal got into a substation, causing significant damages as well as the power outage.
According to Entergy's website, crews are on the way and power is expected to be restored to the area by 7:00 a.m. Friday.
Sophie B. Wright Charter School, Benjamin Banneker Elementary School, and Joan of Arc Catholic School will be closed Friday because of the power outage.
